Create a duplicate of your Windows 10 laptop onto a fresh desktop HDD using Windows 10 cloning tools.
I'm planning to assemble a mid-range gaming PC this fall or winter. Since I only have access to my laptop until early September, I don't want to purchase a new Windows 10 license. I'd like to back up, clone, or migrate the OS onto my laptop even if the devices aren't used together at once. I've looked into it and think creating a backup image and then restarting from that would be the most effective approach, though I noticed this method is mainly documented for Windows 7. Any advice would be appreciated.
I recall that Samsung offered migration software (for SSDs like the Samsung SSD). You’d just need to transfer your laptop’s HDD into your PC using the SSD and then run the software. Windows can sometimes encounter issues during hardware changes, so I might purchase an OEM key on Amazon for a fresh installation.
I would opt for that instead, though it means the laptop won’t be in my grip anymore. The main goal here is to steer clear of doing that.
