Create a copy of your hard drive to an SSD.
Hi, your setup is a bit unusual. You’ve installed an NVMe drive for speed, kept your SSD with 256GB, and used an HDD with 1TB but only 88GB used. You want to move your Adobe stuff and Windows onto the SSD while keeping your games and other files on the HDD. You tried using Macrium Reflect to clone everything, then swapped drives and booted from the SSD—though you noticed the screen went black after Windows loaded. When you changed the boot order in BIOS, it worked. If you need all your programs and Windows copied to the new SSD without re-downloading, let me know—I can help figure out the right steps. Thanks!
Macrium Reflect performs well, but I suggest starting with Rescue USB from the menu, booting from USB, and then performing an offline system clone. Cloning during operation relies on VSS service which isn’t something I fully trust. I experienced issues with that approach in the past. Instead, try booting using only the SSD first, connect your old drive once the PC is powered on (so the new installation gets the correct letters while the system is running), and that should work.
Also, note that SATA supports hotplug by design, making it safe. BIOS settings can change how devices are recognized, which is useful if you need to use hotplug consistently with an internal enclosure.
