Hi
If I purchased a Windows 10 old laptop on November 1, 2025, from a seller who last used it and installed Windows 10 on December 31, 2023, will I receive the updates I missed from January 1, 2024, until October 14, 2025? I know the support deadline is October 14, 2025.
I want to know if creating a bootable Windows 10 installation media on a USB stick is necessary, based on the videos provided. Video 1 looks similar to Video 2, but Video 2 has an extra Rufus step starting at 4:48 minutes. Is that step required?

It seems likely the update could stop unexpectedly, possibly because of an error. It might be wise to format and reinstall the OS to remove any unwanted files left by the previous seller. Install the operating system in offline mode, then manually add all necessary drivers for your laptop via an elevated command—right-click the installer, select Run as Administrator, and connect to the internet to apply updates.

Consider using file system [FAT32] when formatting the USB flash drive intended for Windows 10 installation media.

With the MediaCreation tool, it handles it automatically.
You don't have to do it manually.
However, FAT32 is the appropriate file format.

Can the Windows 10 installation media be generated on a MicroSD Card inside a USB reader? Would you consider [MicroSD Card inserted into a USB Reader] functioning similarly to a [USB flash drive]?

Probably, and yes.
No cost involved to test it.
Make sure the SD card or flash drive is completely empty before use.
It will be fully formatted during the process. All information removed.

After 14 Oct 2025, is it possible to use the Windows 10 installation media on a USB flash drive to install any missing updates for any Windows 10 computer or laptop?

If Microsoft continues to keep individual Windows 10 update patches available on their servers past October 14, you may still manage to locate any unpatched software yourself, though it can become more challenging.

It's a regret that WSUS was removed on April 18, 2025. It proved helpful for offline updates on Windows 7 and XP, especially when internet access was limited.
