I possess a Fibre internet device (router/modem/switch) provided by my ISP. My smartphone has an unlimited YouTube plan activated by the same provider, supporting smooth 720p video and 30fps streaming. Whenever I watch YouTube, I connect to the phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot. Can I link both devices together so that when I want to stream YouTube, I use the phone’s connection and for other sites I get data from the router? This way I won’t have to switch between them.

Can you turn off Wi-Fi data usage specifically for the YouTube app? That’s a common shortcut.

Does YouTube still track your activity on your PC? Usually it functions better on mobile, but certain apps offer settings to control which device connects.

I didn’t understand what you meant. Here’s how it looks: whenever I visit www.youtube.com, whether through Facebook, Chrome, or the YouTube app, the service uses its data. But for everything else, I prefer using Wi-Fi. Please give me some examples.

It's not straightforward when trying to manage traffic from a browser. You might be able to route all web traffic through a specific WAN, but targeting only YouTube won't be easy. Using a separate browser solely for YouTube could work, though it’s less convenient than automatic switching. Overall, it feels more complicated than manually changing connections as you likely do now.
