CPUZ indicates PCIe Gen 4 support on systems with Gen 3 motherboards
I am currently running a Ryzen 5 5650G on a Msi X470 Gaming Plus Max. Both the Cpu and Mb state that they are PCIE Gen 3 compliant in their spec sheet but opening CpuZ on the Pc states they are PCIE 4. Is it just a bug or does the 5650G and/or Msi X470 Gaming Plus Max actually support PCIE Gen 4. I also recall a video where Linus and Andy ran into the same occurrence with a 5600G. Would love to watch that vid again, please send link if you know which one it is.
Companies originally offered PCIE4.0 on B450 and X470 chips before AMD made them stop using it. Appreciate the consumer-friendly stance from AMD! https://www.techpowerup.com/258044/amds-...therboards
It's possible your device retains older firmware because it hasn't been updated to the newest BIOS version yet.
CPUZ only indicates that your motherboard has PCIE4.0 support, but this isn't accurate due to AMD's changes.
If I retrieved the old BIOS, would PCIE 4 still be accessible?
