CPUPC experienced freezing issues and temperature concerns.
Hey, a week back I was playing games and wanted to share my system details with a friend. At that time, Power BI, Chrome, MS Teams, and Discord were running in the background. My CPU temperature was nearing 100°C, which was really alarming since my PC should have been handling things smoothly. This unexpected spike made me worried. I consulted others and tried several solutions, but nothing has resolved the issue yet. Now, when I open different programs—like game launchers (Steam, Battlenet, small apps)—my computer freezes frequently. It doesn’t happen all the time, but often it does, especially while streaming Netflix, YouTube, or Twitch. When it freezes, there’s a strange noise, like a car crashing or scratching, though it’s not very loud. After freezing, everything resumes, usually within 2 to 10 seconds. I used to play Minecraft with shaders without problems, but now my CPU temps rise quickly when using a modpack with around 130 mods and a render distance of 12. I’ve tried adjusting the processor usage in power settings, cleaning dust from fans and cases, using compressed air, reapplying thermal paste, adding new fans, running a BIOS fan test, updating drivers, and ensuring good airflow. My PC is still not overclocked and is placed on the floor in a well-ventilated space with enough room. I’ve attached some photos—my HWMonitor graph shows idle and max temps, and my highest reading came from Minecraft for five minutes. My specs are: Windows 11 Home 64-bit, Intel Core i7 9700K (3.60GHz), 64GB RAM, Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz, ASUS PRIME Z370-P II, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (MSI Aero), cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO 92mm, 2x Kura 120mm, and a 2TB Seagate HDD. BIOS from American Megatrends Inc., released 18-01-2019.
Review the BIOS settings and verify the CPU voltage level. High voltage causes overheating, not frequency. Restart the BIOS and attempt to adjust the CPU voltage. Keep it moderate since low voltage may prevent operation. Capture a photo of the CPU voltage reading in the BIOS and share it here so others can assist with troubleshooting.
