CPU Voltage Limit !
CPU Voltage Limit !
Hey everyone,
I'm a bit puzzled about the Vcore voltage setting. I've overclocked the Intel C2Q Q9400 to 3.6Ghz. In the BIOS, I set the Vcore to 1.3V, but when loading, it drops to only 1.256V and the CPU usage hits 100%. Some people suggest that if the CPU usage reaches 100% during load after overclocking, it indicates a need for higher voltages. So I'm wondering why it doesn't consume more than 1.256V despite being overclocked.
I've attached some screenshots for reference:

Additionally, my Cinebench score is lower than before the overclock (3.4Ghz):

Here are the specs:
CPU: Intel C2Q Q9400 @3.6Ghz
Motherboard: Asus P5K-V
RAM: 6GB DDR2
GPU: GTX 960
PSU: 550W
The Q9400 has a recommended vCore limit of 1.3625, so you might want to increase it, keep an eye on your temperatures. Thanks for the response, seems like this forum is pretty much gone. But in Bios there was some odd talk about Voltages that matches up with what you see in HWMonitor. My CPU temp at 3.6GHz full load reaches 72°C on all four cores. I think it’s safe to go higher than 3.6GHz since the temps look okay. What do you think?
Sure, continue to monitor temps and stability, no reason it can't go higher
😉

Alright thanks.
