CPU usage in Fortnite limited to 2.20 GHz for optimal performance.
Hey everyone, I usually play Fortnite often and my PC runs smoothly, but lately my frames have dropped a lot. I checked Task Manager and saw my CPU usage stuck at 2.20 GHz during the game—no clear reason. This is really affecting the frame rate. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? If you want more details about my hardware, I’m happy to share them.
Your GPU is currently active, and temperatures are within normal ranges.
It's not far from thermal throttling; you need to clear the vents or let it settle down.
I'm experiencing extreme heat levels—anything above 90°C is a serious warning. This is well beyond safe limits, even when the system is reduced to 50%.
Laptops are similar in this regard. You can only attempt to lower the voltage or use liquid cooling, but neither option is ideal. They’re built to operate near their thermal limits. Particularly the cheaper gaming models with standard cooling solutions—just like regular office versions. Even premium machines (like Apple’s) can overheat and run dangerously hot. This reflects the true nature of laptops.
