Since my machine was built last year I’ve recorded CPU temperatures while idle like '16 17 19' 21' 18' 33' 18' 29' 26' 32' 20' 27' 19' 23'. No background processes are running. I’m wondering if the thermal paste might be the issue, but I don’t want to touch the cooler or risk damaging the CPU pins. I’ve seen how messy it can get—it’s like waking a sleeping giant and having to clean up everything afterward. Is this likely the cause of these temperature readings?
