The CPU temperature and package temperature both matter. Ignoring the package temp isn’t safe—its heat can affect performance and longevity. Focusing only on the CPU gives a partial picture, but monitoring both ensures optimal operation.

It's perfectly fine. Those conditions are really favorable.

Just posted a quick update. Thanks for the response. I’m running at 3.8 GHz on my R5 1600x, so in theory I could push it even higher and the temps should remain manageable, correct?

The CPU temperature at the top shows the CPU's heat level as measured by the board's sensor. The package temperature reflects the reading from inside the CPU itself. Usually, the package sensor reads more heat because it's closer to the heat source.

Consider pausing here. The additional 100MHz isn't justified by a further 5-10 times the heat cost.

Operating at 3.9 Ghz with temperatures 2-3°C above normal. CPU runs at 55°C, package at 80°C.

I mean, it's still fine but 80-85 is where I'd say im not comfortable going higher

I thought my highest temperature is 80 °C and I won’t go any higher. Appreciate the reply.
