I'm just starting with building PCs and I'm really unsure. I installed a Ryzen 3800X with the stock cooler in a 450 board. Right out of the box, the voltage changed a lot—from 1.40 to 1.57—and the temperature was around 51°C when idle. My friends thought that wasn't normal, so I adjusted the voltage to 1.35 and tweaked the fans. Now the fluctuations are smaller, and the idle temps are 45-48°C. Still a bit high in my eyes. Should I be worried? What should I do? Sorry, my English isn't great.
It's okay as long as it doesn't reach 90 degrees Celsius, but once it does, your fan will activate
It's a bit high, but it doesn't seem like a major concern. You might want to gather more details to assist further. A subpar cooler setup could be the issue. Have you applied the pre-mixed thermal paste? What kind of case are you using and how effective is its cooling performance? What temperatures are being recorded during operation?
Only adjusted the fans slightly and reduced the voltage a bit. The cooler appears to be working well. I’m using the pre-applied NZXT H510 Midi model, which has four fans—two fronts, one back, and one up. So far, I’ve only tried Cinabench and it reached 82°C.
82c remains in the safe category though it isn't exceptional. However, I don't believe it will exceed that level, so it's best to keep going with the stock cooler. AMD Ryzen's stock coolers perform adequately in cooling but tend to be quite noisy.
