CPU spikes during gameplay without affecting overall system performance
Hey everyone, here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve got: a 1i7-9700f with 32GB RAM, 3000MHz DDR4, an EVGA RTX 3070ti, and a 144Hz monitor. I’ve been running Destiny 2 and Warzone on it after upgrading from the RTX 2070, and both games hit around 75% CPU usage—while other apps stay at 100%. I’m not sure if the RTX 2070 had the same problem, but I’ll check tonight. When I use Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or After Effects, everything runs smoothly. So the main question is: does this CPU handle normal gameplay at 35-40% load with the RTX 3070ti?
I made a mistake about the problems in the game. During play I didn’t see any issues, but when I streamed at 1080p everything stuttered. I thought it would be normal since my wife streams without any trouble on that hardware, but I was wrong. I expected around 40% CPU usage while gaming, which seems reasonable for the 2070, though I’ll check later. I assumed the chip would handle streaming well, but with my current setup it’s a big problem. I bought an i9-11900k because of a good deal and a new motherboard, but I’m worried it might be a configuration issue and wasted money. Updated June 27, 2022 by davinitii missing details
Her processor runs quicker while the graphics card is slower, which means it will use less power from the CPU. It’s possible to manage performance by capping the frame rate or boosting graphics options.
