Cpu runs at high speed with 4000mhz memory
okay if this is a dumb question please excuse me.
So im using a 9900k on a z390 msi mother board, when i boot with hyperx 4000mhz ram the computer will boot and run but my temps are WAY too high.. im on a custom closed cooling loop.. i set the ram to the xmp profile.. is there voltage settings i need to change?! even when i use xmp profile 2 im still running hotter than i would like to be..
i put in 3200 mghz ram my temps are perfect....
any advice would be amazing thank you again.
Memory controller is located within the CPU, which generates some heat when paired with faster RAM. The only solution is to improve cooling. Both IMC and RAM require increased voltage at higher speeds. Typically, it starts at 1.2v and rises to 1.35 or more for certain speeds; reducing voltage could cause instability in the best case and might even prevent booting in the worst scenario.
