I own a Ryzen 9 5900X paired with a very basic Deepcool air cooler. I reside in a hot area and temperatures have risen to nearly 32°C during the day. After gaming for 3-4 hours, the CPU reached a peak of 86°C at Hwinfo. I was concerned about overheating, so I ran Cinebench R23 and stress tested it in the evening (29°C), achieving a max of 69°C at Hwinfo. I’m aware this is unusual. Anyone can clarify why this is happening? I purchased the CPU 1.5 years ago and previously it would hit around 90-91°C in Cinebench. I also installed Afterburner for verification and attached a summary of the stats, including both during and after testing. One detail I missed is my MC score is 16.5k while the ref score ranges from 21.5k to 22k.
How much time has passed since you changed the thermal paste. Is the PC dusty enough to block the CPU cooler?
The cooler isn't maintaining the CPU's temperature, so it reduces clock speeds to safeguard itself.
I just shared a summary of Afterburner. I’m hoping it’ll assist in diagnosing the issue. My concern is whether the cooler won’t maintain the CPU temperature, causing it to reach its maximum in Cinebench. But it never went above 71°C.
I used a 5900X for about four to five years. It handles moderate CPU loads well, especially when stock-cooled. The GPU stays cooler with CB on. It seems your case isn’t great—maybe the cooling is average or subpar. I’m averaging around 23,650 MC with my tuned model. I’m not sure how much more it can handle at stock temps. I haven’t pushed it beyond five minutes, even compared to my 99900X.
I looked into the ref score and it falls between 21k-22k. The issue is that the real summer hasn<|pad|>, it's still early. The highest summer temperature is 42/43 and feels around 50-52, while I'm currently at 33. I believe I should consider a new case with an AIO since I'm unsure what will happen during peak summer.
It’s going to get really hot, honestly. I dislike summer and winter too. Right now I’m sticking to airflow cases. For a cooler vibe, go for Thermalright.
