CPU running hot but no freezes
running a 5.0 OC on my i7 8700k shows no freezes, crashes, or stuttering, though the temperature reaches 100°C. It’s puzzling what’s happening. Any voltage recommendations for a baseline would be helpful? The system specs include an i7-8700k with a 5.0GHz CPU, GTX 1070, 32GB DDR4 RAM at 2400MHz, Z370 MSI SLI Plus, a 700W Bronze PSU, a 250GB M.2 Samsung SSD, a 3TB WD 7200RPM HDD, and a 4K monitor at 60Hz.
Your LLC settings are as follows: I plan to install HWmonitor to monitor core voltages during load and idle conditions for load line calibration. Currently, a single 120mm fan may not be sufficient for overclocking; my i5 reached 100°C at stock clocks. For now, I recommend using 240mm or 280mm fans to maintain stability. If you can achieve 5Ghz at 1.31v, it indicates a strong processor.
what is your vcore now 1.4 at 100c? what is the room temperature?
