CPU reaches 90°C during Cinebench test.
I've adjusted my CPU settings and switched off the undervolt mode at 4.4GHz, 1.15V to PBO with a top-to-bottle of 120/75/130. It's holding steady around 90°C during a 10-minute Cinebench test. At lower clock speeds, I usually reach 82-84°C. Are these values typical? I'm using ThermalRight Assassin X 120R with two fans in push/pull mode. PBO is meant to push temperatures higher for better performance, but I'm unsure if staying close to the limit feels right for me.
What processor is this? A Ryzen 7000 or 9000 series chip running continuously at 95°C is typical. Older AM4 models often had lower TJMax ratings, so sustained 90°C usage might not be ideal unless you're using a 4.4GHz underclock, which restricts you to 5000-series chips that all have a minimum 90°C TJMax.
Proper cooling and PBO undervolting help reduce temperatures significantly. (My 5800X reaches about 80°C in Cinebench with a 360 AIO) https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-views-ryzen-...by-design/
The TJMax for that CPU is 90°C, which technically means it's safe but you'd prefer a cooler setting. The PBO figures are already under the standard range, so you could push it lower. The 5800X maintains good performance when you reduce power to around 65W—this gives you 88 PPT, 60 TDC, and 90 EDC. You might also consider undervolting with a Curve Optimizer to cut down on heat without sacrificing speed.
It's mainly the heat that drives performance to 90°C under heavy load, not any negative factors. This GPU is solid, featuring a 10+3 Phases Digital Twin vrm design.
This could indicate an issue or just a result of pushing the system under maximum load. I checked my CPU temperature and confirmed it's within normal range, though it's not the top-tier cooler I expected. In games, I typically see temps around 60-70°C, with peaks up to 78°C.
If regular all-core rendering isn't a priority, then high Cinebench scores aren't necessarily a big deal. Check your temperatures during typical tasks—if they're acceptable, you're good. Since the CPU seems fully synthetic and you're not under heavy strain, no adjustments are needed unless you prefer otherwise.
Seeking around 15,700 multicore R23 and 1,600 single-core units. These should run hot at 70-80°C, with many hitting 60-70°C. At my undervolt setting, I typically reduce voltage by about 10-20% for a multicore boost of roughly 1,000 points.
