Hey there! Here are your details rephrased:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
Memory: 16GB RAM (two 8GB modules)
RAM Speed: G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3200 (XMP active, also works without XMP)
Motherboard: MSI B550-A Pro
GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 (8GB)
Power Supply: 550W Cooler Master 80 Plus Bronze
Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (issues also seen on Windows 10 Pro)

Recent upgrades include new motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Since then, I’ve experienced freezes that cause a white screen and crashes, plus audio glitches with a buzzing sound. These issues appear only when using the top PCIe lane; the bottom slot shows freezes mainly under heavy load, though no full crashes yet. BIOS and GPU-Z both list the bottom slot as x4, but my old GTX 650ti worked fine in the top slot before. My GPU is already overclocked, but it started failing even before that.

On benchmark tests, the system crashes faster at lower base clocks or underclocking. I ran a Superposition test with the 1070 in the top slot while monitoring temperature, clock speeds, and voltage. The data showed a drop in GPU temperature during freezes, creating an unusual graph. After reinstalling drivers, updating firmware, updating BIOS, and running a memory test, everything worked smoothly.

I’m leaning toward checking the GPU itself rather than replacing it, but I’d appreciate advice on what might be causing this. Thanks for your help!

Did you perform a fresh window installation after the upgrade? If not, did you remove the previous drivers before adding the new ones? It's accurate that the bottom slot is an x16, though physically it only accommodates x4 lanes. According to the site: one PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 port (PCI_E1), one PCIe 3.0 x16 port (PCI_E3), which supports x4 speed, and two PCIe 3.0 x1 ports at 2x speed. Also consider switching the PCIe generation for your GPU to gen 3—B550 natively handles gen 4, though it might be in auto mode. It could help worth checking.

Thank you for your response. It seems the information about the x4 question was unclear. The update process didn’t yield new outcomes, even after a fresh installation and removing previous drivers.

Have you verified all MOBO drivers are set up? The task manager isn’t displaying your iGPU? It might be turned off in the BIOS settings. Look into the device manager for any missing entries.

The latest BIOS and chipset drivers are installed. The iGPU isn't visible because I captured the image immediately after testing the 650ti, and CSM was still active. When CSM is turned off, the iGPU functions properly. The problems with the 1070 persist unchanged.

I've restricted the top PCIe port to x8, which appears to resolve the issue. Do you think the GPU pins might be damaged?

Update: The situation didn’t last long. After a few restarts, we returned to our original position. I removed the MoBo and discovered a piece of solder on a capacitor above the PCIe slot. Touching it broke it off along with the capacitor. When told the repair would take about six weeks by my reseller, I opted for a local PC repair shop instead. Issue resolved. Thanks for your feedback.
