CPU Overclocking Problems?
CPU Overclocking Problems?
Hello,
I own an AMD fx 8320 and am considering a new CPU. I’m aware that AMD processors tend to overheat, so I’m trying to push the overclocking limits until I find a better option. Whenever I go beyond 3.5Ghz (the stock speed), the system powers off instantly. Temperatures never exceed 160°F, and this is my first experience with such an issue. I’m experienced in overclocking before, having assembled several systems, but this is the first time it’s happened. If anyone has advice or a guide on how to proceed, please share it.
*Temps*
Ambient Temperature: 80°F
Idle: 90°F
100% Load: 150°F
*Specs*
Case: NZXT Source 210
Case Fans: 2x Corsair AF120MM Intake
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
CPU: AMD fx 8320
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H55 / 2x SP Fans Push & Pull on the Radiator
GPU: MSI GTX 1060
PSU: 750 watts
*UPDATE*
I managed to run the CPU at 4.5Ghz for 45 minutes, achieving a peak of 52°C under full load.
Hi, Personally I don't own an AMD chip so I don't wanna give any advices regarding them overclocking!
But, found a guide that will thoroughly explain about how to get them overclocked past 4 Ghz.
Hope this helps. Those guys over there are experts on overclocking.

This PSU is for a specific motherboard model. It might be a generic part or a common one, but you should confirm the exact model for accuracy.
150 F equals 65 C, and the processor shouldn't exceed 62 C. A temperature around 55 C would be ideal. The 80 F ambient is likely to be quite high, so make sure your cooler is functioning correctly and the fans/pumps are operating properly. I understand the Hydro isn't a high-end cooler, but it should at least perform better than what you have.
