CPU model I-9 8950hk shows inconsistent temperatures in core 0, 2, and 3.
Hello, I have an AW R5 17 with a CPU that has I-9 8950hk and a GTX1080 GPU. After some adjustments, temperatures remain high on cores 0, 2, and 3. To improve heat distribution, could you help identify the exact positions of cores 0 through 5 on the metal base of this CPU? Specifically, which spot corresponds to core 0—upper left, middle left, lower right, center, etc.? Understanding this layout will let me suggest the best placement for a heatsink so all cores stay balanced, especially core 0, 2, and 3. Any additional advice on rebalancing the cooling system would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
It isn't always straightforward. There might be variations in how the heat spreader is soldered or slight differences in core construction or nearby components. It's common for certain cores to generate more heat than others. The temperature sensors used to track temps can also differ in precision.
Thanks for the update Alex. Your approach is helpful, but I’m curious if this might be a complex issue involving several factors. It would be great to explore ways to accurately diagnose and fix uneven core temperatures. Your experience with balancing heatsinks and the results you’ve seen are encouraging—keep up the good work!
