cpu issues
I have an MSI gaming laptop with a base clock of 2.5 GHz and a turbo clock of 3.5 GHz. The issue is that when I switch to Turbo mode using MSI Dragon Center, the CPU speed remains stuck at 2.5 GHz regardless of the game, which is unexpected since it should reach up to 3.5 GHz or higher. This inconsistency affects the gaming experience. Hyperthreading is already enabled.
Install thermal monitoring tools such as HWMonitor, launch a game in windowed mode, and observe the temperatures. The CPU activates turbo boost only when its package temperature drops below a specific limit; otherwise, it stays inactive. A common misunderstanding is that turbo boost functions similarly to overclocking, but this is incorrect. The CPU employs turbo boost only under defined conditions and typically for brief periods.
Three months back everything seemed normal until sports mode started running at 3Hz. I realized it mentions having three cores and three threads, even though it's a quad-core CPU with four threads. When I opened the BIOS, it showed four cores but only three were active.
