CPU is overheating heavily, consider taking action
I'm having an issue with my i5 3470. I attempted to overclock it by adjusting the clock speed to x34 from x32. Since the boost clock is set at 3.40GHz by default, I thought it would be safe. However, soon after, the CPU reached around 100°C. I reset everything to auto mode, cleared the BIOS settings, checked the cooler, and swapped the paste. It now stays between 40-45°C when idle, which is normal for its condition. Although I haven't measured temperatures recently, it seems like my attempt might have caused damage. If you know what else to try or if you suspect a problem, let me know. Thanks ahead!
Consider reinitializing the BIOS if you overlooked updating a configuration.
I have reinitialized it. I verified it too. It operates automatically, and when I turn on the change option, it displays as active on x32.
It might have been heating up already before you began boosting the overclock. When you increased the vcore, keep in mind to revert it to auto since vcore significantly impacts power usage. You haven’t shared details about the cooler you’re using or what conditions are stressing the CPU. (P95 can generate huge heat even with minor FFTs.)
