Hello! I am currently having an issue with this MSI Nightblade MI2C that I got from a friend. On boot the message "CPU Fan Error, Please Check !" appears. I've done a bit of detective work and found the fan to be spinning when I initially start the PC, but it falls right down to 0RPM really quickly. Through the bios I do not seem to have any control. The motherboard is the MS-B090. Does anyone know what else I could do to troubleshoot? Is it mechanical failure? I'd like to keep this pc going for a while longer and am not shy of changing the fan, I could probably jerry rig something together if I don't find anything exact ! Thanks in advance! I hope to hear from someone as this is causing quite high temperature (booting on 40, flies straight up to 70 on idle after 10 min).

Have you verified the physical link between the fan and the motherboard? Have you attempted to plug in another fan (if possible) onto the same connector and observed its performance? Would you use a reliable fan and compare behavior? If that fan functions properly, try routing the CPU fan through another connector (especially one known to work) and check if it still stops.

I should note that I had previously attempted that solution. It appears there are no additional fan headers available; I currently have only one accessible and would prefer not to purchase another just to investigate further. What alternatives would you recommend?

Do you recall if the fan operated properly? You mentioned receiving the computer from a friend, and they experienced the same problem. Ideally, you wouldn't need to buy a fan since they're available for under $5 on Amazon with Prime. You should inspect the fan connector and header using a multimeter to verify the correct voltage is being supplied. If it's a DC fan, you can power it with a 12V supply to test functionality. Assuming all connections are secure and voltage is correct, consider checking the BIOS update. It's likely the fan is faulty or outdated; replacing it would be the simplest solution. I don't have the exact model, but if it matches the one you searched for, it might be around 2015 with a chipset from that year. The promotional description about "Exclusive Silent Storm Cooling" seems relevant to your setup.

I've received confirmation it functioned initially (since there was no warning at first). It makes sense that a fan would start briefly and then shut off completely. Regarding purchasing options in France, you might want to check local electronics stores or online retailers that ship there. For the "Exclusive Silent Storm Cooling" model, there’s limited online information available, and it doesn’t appear to be widely recognized. If you need a similar product, consider matching thickness and design as closely as possible.

It relates to a specific header type such as AIO, Sys fan, or similar. Different boards use unique onboard fan profiles depending on the header, which is what you observed in the thread. For a good value, the artic F12 PWM fans are recommended, as they’re among the best available in Finland at around 10e for a 120mm size. You can verify this by checking the MSI documentation at the provided link.
