CPU Cooker designed for i7-9700k with MSI MPG Z390 GAMING Pro Carbon board
I recently purchased an i7-9700k and the MSI MPG Z390 GAMING Pro Carbon. I’m checking if a CPU fan made for this setup works with my AMD motherboard. I’m unsure if it’s compatible and would appreciate any advice. I’ve already spent about £400 on fans and will have more RAM soon. Thanks for your help!
The cooler in your setup will fit physically, but it isn't designed for high-TDP processors such as the 9700K. Expect thermal throttling when using that unit. For optimal performance, a minimum of a 95 W CPU cooler is recommended—this one is noticeably thicker.
Search for the Arctic Freezer 34 gaming pair. It's priced near £45 and I'm using it with my Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor. It should perform perfectly.
It seems the intel stock cooler isn't performing well and your CPU might overheat on it. Check out these options for better cooling: the Arctic Alpine 12 Compact Cooler looks promising, plus the Golden Field heatpipes and radiator could help. The QUIET-BK008 Intel socket cooler is also a solid choice.
