After switching the PSU, I observed a difference in the CPU connector—my old unit had a 4-pin, while the new one uses an 8-pin. Initially I connected the 8-pin first and everything functioned properly, but I encountered occasional lagging issues that would briefly appear before resolving. After a few days, I switched back to the 4-pin and everything worked smoothly. Now I’m still puzzled about why an 8-pin connector might cause problems compared to a 4-pin one. My system runs the B450M, MB450M, MORTAR MAX, with a 300W PSU and a Ryzen 5 3400G CPU.

Check your current gear: B450M mortar, Ryzen 3400G, Corsair 2x8GB RAM, 3200/240GB SSD, 1TB Seagate HDD. Look for a PSU that matches your power needs and form factor.
You might want to check the PSU tier list and aim for Tier C or higher. It will cost more than $23, but consider how valuable your PC is to you. A 300W unit is sufficient now, but if you intend to upgrade to a high-performance graphics card later, opt for something near 500 or 600W.
