I recommend continuing to save until you can obtain an X3D CPU or a full platform upgrade. The single-threaded speed is nearly identical for both options. You'll add two extra cores and four threads (provided your games utilize them), a slight increase in cache, and transition from PCIe Gen3 to Gen4. Those are the main differences worth noting.
