Hello, I moved to a laptop and now have a Lenovo Legion S7 16ARHA7 R7 6800H RX6600 with 2x8GB RAM at 4800MHz. I had the boost enabled, but I could play games while the CPU hit 100°C, so I’m worried it might fail in a year. I know I have the slim model and the cooling isn’t great, so I turned off the boost. Now it’s running at 3GHz max and still gets decent FPS, but I notice some micro-lags. I changed the paste and thermal pads, but I’m unsure how to adjust the boost limit—like setting a max of 3.8GHz or aiming for 90°C instead of 95°C. I’m used to a desktop and would normally configure BIOS settings, thanks for your help!
Are there any power or fan settings available on your laptop? (Options include "Quiet", "Automatic", and "Performance")
Well mine remains silent when quiet, but becomes very loud during performance mode.
quiet 2.7ghz 70c auto 3.6ghz 100c perf 3.6ghz 100c but it's still better the way I've adjusted the turbo in the power supply. It drops to 3.2ghz 75c because the laptop runs quietly. When I turn the turbo back on, it only activates when I need it most—like when I'm accessing data from the disk, then the CPU hits full speed in a second and reaches 100c.
