Hello, So I've reinstalled windows fresh and even put on a new heat-sink (Noctua DH15) my processor whilst idle ramps up to ~67c and then lowers back down to ~45c every couple minutes or so. I'm not sure why, nothing shows in taskmanager as taking a lot of processing power. I have stress tested using Cinebench and it doesn't seem to go about 82c but I have noticed whilst playing Minecraft it breached 90c which is terrible. Any ideas? Is my CPU dying? All standard clock speeds. Haven't touched the PC properly for 18 months due to being away. Here's HWMonitor after a short ~30 minute Minecraft session
It’s unlikely the temp changes are due to CPU issues; the motherboard could be the cause. Check the BIOS settings—are the fan curves predefined? If not, adjust them to "silent."
I haven’t adjusted any fan configurations in the BIOS yet. I’ll take a closer look and let you know the outcome.
After running some tests at idle, the temperature stays above 70°C. It's unclear what might have caused this increase. I've included photos of fan settings and corresponding temperatures from HWMonitor. I plan to restart in safe mode to see if it helps. The readings seem to drop when I stop Windows indexing, but that might just be a coincidence.

Expected voltage for the CPU when idle isn't typical. It seems a process is consuming your CPU. Check the task manager and turn off all programs that launch at startup.
Adjust the voltage shapes. My initial 5800X model ran very hot and needed high voltages. Fine-tuning with Curve Optimizer is essential for Zen3 chips.

A common starting point is around 5V to 12V depending on your components. Always verify specifications before testing.
Well curve optimizer helps fine-tune the CPU's voltage under different loads and speeds. It isn't a fixed setting; it requires some time to adjust. The lowest (most negative) curve often improves performance by easing thermal limits. PBO adjustments are optional, but I strongly suggest doing them.
