Is the CPU hanging (see spoiler) or is it an excessive load, ie it has processes that want to execute but are waiting for free CPU time (see stackoverflow link to troubleshoot). if the load is below your core/thread count your Okay. Load is measured over minutes. Please disable anti-virus during testing. If the CPU's actions are non-nefarious (not a virus), just being utilized to its full potential like in a game, i don't see a problem. I see 97% usage in games, its normal, yes the game can run on lower spec'd systems but it's trying to give you the best experience, thus more usage. Spoiler A CPU hang, also known as a system hang or freeze, occurs when the central processing unit (CPU) stops responding to inputs or executing processes as expected. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including: Software Issues : Buggy or incompatible software. Infinite loops or deadlocks in programs. Driver conflicts or issues. Hardware Problems : Overheating of the CPU. Faulty RAM or other hardware components. Power supply issues. Resource Exhaustion : Insufficient memory or disk space. Excessive CPU usage by one or more processes. Operating System Malfunctions : Corrupt system files. Issues with system updates or configurations. When a CPU hang occurs, the system typically becomes unresponsive, and user inputs (such as keyboard or mouse actions) may not have any effect. The only way to recover from a hang is often to restart the system. Do you have a specific situation or system in mind where this issue is occurring? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6305...on-windows

It fully utilizes every thread the CPU has and maintains 100% usage while I run heavy apps. The problem isn’t due to antivirus software; I’ve disabled them already and the issue persists. It’s likely related to an i3 13th generation game, which shouldn’t handle such high load, especially since it started acting this way only about a month ago.

Additionally, the performance remains smooth at full capacity, but the issues I’m concerned about are the heat generation and power consumption. It can get quite hot—up to around 90°C—and it draws over 150 watts while handling tasks that typically use half that amount.

Notice the self-centered task "bdservicehost" from bitdefender—it’s consuming a lot of your CPU and checking at 199MB/s. Consider disabling it while playing games; it should cease functioning?
