Hi, a few days ago I was cleaning my C drive and removed some files I had researched to check if they were safe to delete—they all were. But now when I launch CS2, it shows up with this screen and freezes; I can still hear the game and see my cursor moving, but I can't get off that screen. 😞
All my other Steam and non-Steam games work fine, but CS2 just won’t. I’ve tried reinstalling and checking the game files, but nothing helped.

It won't start because you likely removed essential configuration or necessary files required for the game to begin correctly. Reinstalling may not always resolve the issue.

You might attempt launching the game using specific command line parameters. Initially, consider removing the file "cs2_video.txt" located in your Steam installation directory, which can be found at a path like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(your account)\730\local\cfg\cs2_video.txt". The exact location may vary depending on your setup.

All configuration files are kept within the "cfg" folder. The "cs2_video.txt" contains video and graphical settings. If this file exists, delete it and try launching again.

Please note the native resolution or refresh rate of your monitor. If deletion doesn't work, you can also edit that file directly. Adjust the values as needed:
- "setting.defaultresolution" to 1920
- "setting.defaultresheight" to 1080
(Assuming a 1080p display; change accordingly for 2K or 4K screens.)

If the game still fails to launch and displays a loading screen, proceed with command line options. Open Steam, navigate to Library, right-click on Counter-Strike 2, and select "Properties". Click "Set Launch Options..." to access launch settings. Try these options one by one:
-vulkan (switches rendering API from DirectX 11 to Vulkan)
-autoconfig (forces default game configuration; settings can be adjusted in-game)
-w [width] -h [height]
For instance, to set resolution to 1920x1080, use: -w 1920 -h 1080
-or -window for windowed mode.
-novid (disables the intro video)

I fixed it myself. I already attempted to delete all cfg files in the C drive and also tried using -novid and vulkan launch codes via Steam. After reinstalling Steam, the game worked properly for me.
