It's been nearly a year since I last played WoW. At first, it was just because I stumbled upon a two-month card I thought I should try out. Back in late BC and throughout the whole game world, I loved playing with many friends—some online, others in real life—and we were all really excited for Cata. But it turned out to be quite disappointing. Recently, I've seen ads for WoD and a few of my friends have started playing again. Honestly, it seems like it could be fun, but I don't want to jump in only to end up with the same issues as Cata or MoP. Anyone who's still playing can share their thoughts?

If you're into pay-to-play titles, there are plenty to explore. After spending a lot of time in WoW, it can start to feel repetitive.

It seems neither @Lightz nor @NeatSquidYT have completed beta or raid testing. WoD is... the...shit! It's incredibly good. Bosses are tough/interesting, 5-man runs aren't easy, and doing any role is challenging right now (except for mages ofcourse). It's really good—I suggest giving it a try.

I enjoy hearing about the challenges once more, as this was the least enjoyable aspect of Cata. Plus, many personal settings were removed when the talent trees were streamlined.

Most players felt Cata was straightforward, likely with just a few key kills. Healing was tough until Dragon Soul. The experience with HC Ragnaros was satisfying. Streamlining the talent paths was a strong move. With 41 points to allocate, 39-40 were consistently useful. That’s because they were top-tier. The 41 points seemed to offer more flexibility, but in reality, everything fit into standard categories. You can now make your choices without fear of consequences.

Completely opposed to the talent tree concept if you stick to traditional mechanics. In reality, there was usually a single main build everyone relied on. Still, some unique trees were possible. The tank build stood out as a strong example. Regarding cata being tough, I mean non-heroic raids. There was a clear split between players serious enough for complex raids like ToC and ICC, and those who focused on heroic ICC. In cata it was just everyone versus the elite tier. Someone dedicating about four hours weekly could get gear from raid finder or similar easier runs, but it didn’t justify the time. You’d end up with similar outcomes to a fraction of the effort needed for a full raid.

Say you're looking for more of the same move, then go all in. I've grown tired of the game's overall setup after playing a lot in BC and Wrath—though I really enjoyed those experiences.

I recently picked it up again after a couple of years off. I really liked how the characters progressed. I tried raids and other activities, but didn’t get too involved. It’s fine for a short time. I just felt the urge to play an MMO that wasn’t available well, so I went back to WoW. Unfortunately, it feels almost the same, so if you’re after that, you might want to try it. Though I can’t comment on the new expansion—it seems to change the game a lot—but I’ll have to wait before jumping in.

It's always beneficial to dive into WoW. Of course, you need to invest money to play, but those ten euros I spent on some annoying music on Spotify are more than worth it. I've been testing the beta in WoD and I'm really enjoying the prepatches during live sessions. I recommend giving it a try and not dismiss it too soon when you notice any issues. I've gone through all the expansions, including the base game. I can confidently say that WoD (so far) falls short compared to Mop and Catapult. It's also true that the difficulty has increased. Even leveling was challenging for me as a healer trying to keep people alive in tough situations. I'm not bad at all, since I've even received compliments from others during dungeons. If they didn't know the tactics, they'd probably die too. Unlike Mop, where you could heal someone fully with just a few spells, here you can do more with your skills. The talent trees, as @Archangel1994 mentioned, just create an illusion of freedom. You might adjust your setup depending on the situation, but now you have more options to choose from, with three talents available at each level.
