A technician arrived, set up my CPU, and later removed it briefly before putting it back in. A friend said, "rip, +10C, first install seal is gone." I haven’t heard of this before. Also, when I first installed the i9 12900k, there was a distinct click when closing the retention arm, and then just a creak. I filmed the second installation—so it seems we’re still okay?

Unknown to me... REVISED: Audio in that clip sounds typical. Edited on December 15, 2021 by Eighjan

It's not a real concept. It feels similar to virginity (lmao); it's just an idea. Temperature remains unchanged regardless of multiple installs.

He might be mentioning the thermal paste, if you damaged the mount and didn't reapply after reinstalling the cooler, but that's the only thing I can imagine. If he meant simply inserting the CPU and removing it without touching the cooler, then he's incorrect.

He joked about breaking me because I mentioned a loud noise when lowering the retention arm initially and "rip pins." After that, I removed the CPU and reinstalled it as shown in the video. It looks like I was getting teased. Thanks. No thermal issues or cooling yet. I just placed a bunch of parts and put the CPU in the motherboard since it arrived recently.
