Hey there. I'm planning to buy a new gaming laptop because I travel often and desktops aren't up to the task. It comes with an i7-4710HQ 2.5Ghz turbo boost, GTX 970 with 6GB RAM and 12GB memory. I'm curious if my CPU or GPU might become a bottleneck when playing demanding titles like Batman and games such as AC Unity. I'm aware of the current issues with these kinds of games but don't want to hear complaints about broken products. I'm aiming for smooth performance at 40+ FPS in titles like High - Ultra, especially avoiding the 30FPS limit on Batman. I'm okay with V-sync and other settings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Arma 3 struggles but you can achieve over 40 frames per second in many titles.

Everything should work smoothly. A good guideline is using an i5 or higher Intel processor won’t cause any issues. Batman might seem silly now, but it looks like a solid laptop. What’s your budget looking like?

Clear response: no. Real assistance (at least I believe): It shouldn<|pad|> a problem won’t arise. Being a laptop shouldn’t cause an issue. A separate GPU would help, but the i7 should suffice.

Depending on the res of the screen you should be golden. In something like that make sure there is an SSD though.. would be a sin to have only HDD. As far as heat / thermal throttling, it will really depend on the specific laptop your getting.

Everyone agrees with the group. Laptops run smoothly without issues, though the hardware is the main bottleneck. You're okay with your processor and GPU.

Thanks for your prompt reply! I'm just trying to understand the specs for games that come out. For example, with Batman Arkham Knight it suggests a Quad-core processor with 3.4GHz. I'm confused about how my current CPU can handle it. I'm coming from a console experience (PS3 specifically) and usually just pick up games without issues. My budget is around $2500 to $3000, and I'm using New Zealand Dollars. I've seen desktops that are cheaper but offer better performance, but they lack portability. My setup includes a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD with a 1080p display. I'm using an MSI GT72 Dominator Pro.

You'll be okay in any game for the coming years, slowly lowering the settings as the demands increase

Great! I'm not sure how the new games look yet, so I'll have to check them out when I get my hands on them.
