where exactly are we? I'm still using a Q6600 and it's working great, but I got 7 drops support in December. Running Win 10 on my old computer is really tough.

A minor discount available for Black Friday. The 9900k is a bit cheaper now.

Sure, I can help with that. What would you like me to check?

You use your PC for various tasks, and an R5 2600 works well for gaming alone. Even after support ends, you don’t have to abandon Windows 7.

If you don’t want your project compromised, it’s best to cease using that tool.

Uncertainty remains about the Black Friday performance, aiming for 3600 or 3700x

The release of the 4th generation Ryzen might result in a slight decrease.

Ryzen 7 1800X was sold for $499, then fell to around $200 after the 2700X launched at $329. The 2700X also dropped to $200 when the 3700X hit $329. I think the 3900X will experience comparable price drops once the 4000 series is released.

The government and NASA will continue relying on XP and 7 until the end of time, along with numerous other companies. The impact will mainly depend on accessing random users online. Probably the 3700X is sufficient if you're gaming at 144Hz, and the R7 2700/X will work well for 60Hz with a lower price. Consider upgrading your display if it's basic. An RX 5700 is adequate for gaming at up to 4K on its own.
