my temperature of cpu is roughly between 50 and 80 degrees while gaming. Is that typical? As long as the temperature is acceptable, voltage isn't really a concern. Just avoid overclocking by more than about 10% if you're not completely sure. Temperatures in the range of 50 to 80°C are normal.

It won't shorten the lifespan if you handle it properly. Keep in mind that this also cancels the warranty.
