Could switching on my PC without powering the CPU fan affect the CPU?
I've been experiencing problems with my RAM and motherboard (these are unrelated). I was testing the RAM by turning it on and off several times, and I had to unplug the CPU fan because I needed to reconfigure the fan layout to access the RAM. The PC would shut down so it wouldn't overheat, but I kept doing this multiple times, unsure why it was happening.
If it functions properly, it should be acceptable. For a recently installed motherboard, it is built to power down at temperatures safe for the CPU.
even though it might happen several times, it's still functioning properly now. I'm just concerned it could cause minor damage.
Obtain a single Noctua NH-P1 passive heatsink and you'll eliminate the need for fans.
