The update will likely only affect the server itself, not the entire network. Rebooting typically doesn't impact other devices unless they're directly connected.

Have you checked the new versions to confirm they’re stable? It’s best not to blame anything, but please schedule testing during a period with ample time—around eight hours—to handle any issues.

It seems you want to suggest pausing other devices before restarting the server.

It’s outdated information. I usually handle one computer at a time. Remote tasks are uncommon for me, and network issues don’t usually impact my local setup. Would the server going down affect my other machines?

The latest changes have been made. The files on the server have also been backed up.

Only the final Windows Server 2011 updates from mid-2014 were applied. That marks the last time any changes were made. I’m currently on a short-term assignment, but the previous staff member didn’t maintain the system properly. Also, I haven’t taken any backups.

I would save the files first, and I need to know the number of users currently on the server.

Do you have a test server available for simulating the upgrade?

Ensure you have a full backup before moving forward. It’s usually safest to capture the entire server image just in case issues arise, and double-check they have redundant storage as well. I bet their configuration hasn’t been fully optimized if they haven’t updated since 2011...
