The 780 appears to perform better. I also reviewed comparisons between 960SLI and 780, and the 780 often outperforms the 960SLI in 1080p. Sometimes the 960SLi does win. It really depends on the game and how effective it is with SLI.

You’re referring to the situation where a stock GTX 780 outperforms an EVGA GTX 960 SSC at 1080p, right? For example, in GTA V on high quality, it’s a terrible 24FPS on the 960 but 48FPS on the 780 at 1080p?

The 780 is clearly a better card; this isn’t about 780Ti or 980.
From that chart, only GTA V and Shadow of Mordor would need the 780 to be playable. To me, that’s not worth an extra 100 dollars. But if you’re playing those games, then go ahead and spend the money and upgrade.

If you look at the overall FPS increase across all the games, it's a pretty big difference, which isn't surprising since the 970 is the real successor to the 780, same as the 980 to 780Ti. And you're forgetting DSR ( http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technolo...orted-gpus) which would allow for the 780 to stretch its legs further as seen here with a 14 FPS lead (52 to 38) in FO4
