I was attempting to connect a new cable to the back of my PC, but I suspect I may have mistakenly pressed the BIOS flash button. This caused the screen to go dark and the fans to stop. Now the power indicator is lit, though it doesn’t respond, and the motherboard’s RGB remains active. Any thoughts?

If the clear CMOS isn’t effective, consider intentionally rebooting it. Since there’s no BIOS file on a USB stick, it’s unclear what changes would occur.

They didn’t apply heat to it. Probably you need to reset the system by clearing the CMOS or taking out one of the RAM modules so it can start using default settings. You don’t just turn on a computer with a button—engineers handle these details carefully.

It seems like you might have taken a risk with the motherboard, but I’m glad it worked out. If you forgot the USB C connection and tried a USB B instead, that could’ve helped. Also, removing a RAM stick before booting made a difference. Thanks for sharing the details—it’s reassuring to know it functioned!

the only part that can be easily connected or disconnected is the HDMI cable, though the likelihood is minimal. however, since electricity flows through it, it's safer to avoid using display cables while the computer is powered off.
