Apex Legends utilizes the Source engine, which is an older and less adaptable technology. It’s unlikely they will successfully transfer this game to mobile devices like Fortnite, and production rates may be hampered due to the limitations of the engine. Furthermore, the game suffers from problematic network code, making it a poor choice for competitive play compared to Fortnite. Like before, its design mirrors the standard appearance of other battle royale games, limiting its ability to stand out. Apex Legends is also less approachable for younger players, a key factor in Fortnite’s rapid success. Electronic Arts handles publishing, potentially leading to aggressive microtransactions.
Apex Legends will not achieve the same level of popularity as Fortnite; it will expand but won't maintain momentum for extended periods. While unlikely to disappear entirely, this title is expected to remain relevant for years to come.
