Cortana is constantly tuned in, which means it picks up ambient sounds. I can't respond to that since I didn't create Cortana and Siri isn't designed for surveillance. You can turn it off—similar to adjusting "Search Assist in settings."

1). I expect people will adopt Edge.
2). Set Cortana to recognize your voice via the "learn my voice" option.

Cortana operates via the web, is correct. Apple had a longer history with Siri, while Microsoft and Cortana coexisted, meaning some features might emerge in the future.
