You're encountering some unexpected behavior with your MSI Z170A gaming M5. It seems the XMP profile isn't applying correctly, possibly due to BIOS settings or compatibility issues. Since you don’t have the GPU, focus on adjusting CPU and RAM settings manually. Check your BIOS for any required overclocking or memory configuration changes, and ensure your RAM is properly recognized. Review the video link for more details on the BIOS interface.

Disabling xmp removes it completely. The 8gb stick you mentioned is the same one that failed yesterday, so replacing it should help. Corsair offers solid support—just inform them about the issue via email.

Adjust settings directly rather than using XMP.

These sticks are brand new and just purchased. Are you sure a RAM problem is the likely cause?

Check out a beginner-friendly guide on memory overclocking. Look for one that explains BIOS settings and options like Samsung, micron, and other memory types. Your setup with a 3200 s Samsung stick sounds solid—good luck with the stability!
