I currently possess 16GB of RAM that was just the minimum I could obtain (two 8GB units) and I aim to upgrade it. The goal is to install 32GB of memory with CL16 speeds at 3200MHz. Two sticks of 16GB each are slightly more affordable than two 8GB units, and according to what I've read, my Ryzen 3600x doesn't depend on having two or four slots filled. A secondary factor is that my current setup forces me to increase the NH-D15 front fan speed. Three possible options are under consideration: #1 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz 16-20-20-38 (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16) $155 Pro, #2 Kingston Fury Beast 3200MHz 16-18-18-? (KF432C16BB1K2/32) $160 Pro, #3 G.Skill FlareX 3200MHz 16-18-18-38 (F4-3200C16D-32GFX) $135 Pro. I'm also considering a Con model with an extra $5 for marginally better performance. #Con's: higher price but similar timing potential. #Secondary Con's: very low profile, out of stock in Canada right now. Personally, I'm leaning toward the Corsair Vengeance LPX because it's cheaper and offers a good balance. It could allow me to reach 16-18-18-38 or even 16-18-18-36/38 with a lower-profile design like the Kingston units. This decision is pretty close, but I think this is the best place to get advice. *Especially since I'm unsure whether my 3600x actually needs two slots or four.* Buying two 2x8GB Corsair kits would give me 32GB and let me fill all four slots, which might be ideal for future upgrades.

tRAS has minimal impact on overall performance since it mainly influences tRC, which isn't publicly advertised and only matters when using certain memory types (like Micron). In most cases, you can set it as low as the CPU allows (21). I recommend Kingston or FlareX kits. The tRCD and tRP adjustments add value, and tRAS is usually not a deciding factor. Performance gains are more noticeable in dual rank configurations—typically about 5% faster compared to single rank. Having four sticks ensures you're likely in dual rank. 16GB DIMMs often balance well between single and dual depending on production costs. Unless you purchase a kit with a specific chip (like the 3200MHz CL14-14-14), it's uncertain whether you'll get single or dual rank memory. In short, performance differences exist but aren't guaranteed.

I believe the only way to find out is by looking at the dice and ranks once I buy them, and there’s really no other method besides that. I don’t get overly fixated on the dice or rank details, so I’m not buying extras just for the top-tier performance. I can check Kingston 3200mhz models—like the 16-18-18 or 16-20-20—and see what’s available. Both are Kingston Fury Beast chips. The main issue with G.Skill is it isn’t in stock at all.

I believe the only way to find out is by looking at the dice and ranks once I buy them, and there’s really no other method besides that. I don’t get overly fixated on the dice or rank details, so I’m not buying extras just for the top-tier performance. I can check Kingston 3200mhz models—like the 16-18-18 or 16-20-20—and see what’s available. Both are Kingston Fury Beast chips. The main issue with G.Skill is it isn’t in stock at all.

I’d pick this option for better compatibility and lower cost. The extra 5% from dual rank over single rank isn’t worth the $20 and the risk of mismatched memory chips. Tighter tRCD and tRP should help balance out any performance gaps between single and dual ranks.
