Hi guys,
The backplate for the h55 cooler isn't fitting on the motherboard because there are cylindrical components around the CPU that prevent it from being installed. I'm using a 6700k and Corsair says it should work with 1151 sockets... I'm confident I have the right backplate (Intel).

Did you complete the setup steps according to your guide or this video? If you feel unclear, sharing a photo of the issue could help identify the problem. You might also discover the wrong hardware was included.

Have you completed the installation steps as described in your manual or this video? If you feel unclear, sharing a photo of the issue could help identify the problem. You might even discover the wrong hardware was included with your device.
Here are some pictures that illustrate my situation:

The backplate isn’t fitting onto the motherboard, but without it the holes align. I’m unsure how to properly secure it.
As you can see, the cylindrical components are obstructing both the backplate and the cooler.

As you can see, the cylindrical components are obstructing both the backplate and the cooler. The backplate should be placed at the bottom of the motherboard, not on top. Those cylindrical parts are capacitors and are located at the top.
