I've just received my new i7 7700k and am attempting to push it to 4.5ghz using 1.28v. My CPU temperatures are currently between 88-90°C, but one of the cores is consistently reaching 100°C max. Is this a positive sign or a warning? And what should I do with the stress test?

Elbert, do you have prime95 installed? The latest updates seem to have issues with Intel. I recommend trying version 26.6 and see if it works.

Yes, I'm using the newest version, but I think that's the cause. Please use the version I linked and test it out.

I usually run Prime95 26.6 with Small FFT for 10 to 30 minutes. Make sure to monitor with Core Temp (I also use HWmonitor and NZXT CAM for verification). Here is a great guide by Computronix.

Prime95 Version 26.6 download link provided.
Some users report newer releases over-volt the CPU beyond safe limits, leading to excessive heat.
HWmonitor reference available for temperature tracking.
Core Temp monitoring tool linked.
Test recommendations using Small FFTs for 10-30 minutes are suggested.
