Core Cache LLC
Core Cache LLC
Assuming the motherboard features an overkill VRM with top-tier performance, the optimal choice for overclocking hinges on balancing safety and performance. Raising the LLC level generally offers more headroom for boosting voltages without immediate risk, while increasing Vcore or cache power efficiency can enhance stability and sustained gains. The decision often simplifies to prioritizing higher LLC if you're comfortable with the trade-offs, or focusing on Vcore/cache if you value reliability. Phase design plays a role but isn't the main factor here.
i rely on boards that are over ten years old without an LLC, which isn't ideal. even with a 0.08V drop, an LLC still performs better than an LLC in my experience. this is outdated tech—new setups should include some LLC but not just full ones, avoiding issues like voltage droop. it relates to VRMs, though i'm not sure what the exact point was. voltage drop to a voltage was better before, and on my ASUS P5Q, they seem to have a solid LLC profile despite older hardware.
