Core and Gaming
For a long time, people thought gaming relied only on 2 or 3 cores. But since 2019, improvements like Directx 12 and Vulcan have changed that. Now many games can use more than just 2 or 3 cores—sometimes even 6 or 8. I’m curious if there will be sudden shifts in how these technologies work, potentially altering the usual idea of needing many cores for better performance.
It's not just dx12 and vulcan increasing core usage—the developers are leveraging more cores since they're available. Current consoles already operate with eight-core CPUs, seven of which support gaming tasks. With upcoming models supporting up to sixteen threads, we can expect a significant shift toward using at least eight cores for gaming.
