Hi, your system already has an RTX 2080 Super and you're considering adding an Intel Arc GPU to handle other tasks while gaming. You're wondering if both GPUs can work together using PCIe 3.0 x16 lanes. The manual mentions support for dual GPUs over PCIe 4.0 in 8x, but you're curious about the actual capability of PCIe 4 speeds compared to PCIe 3.0. Since your Arc supports PCIe 4.0 and would be much faster, it could definitely utilize both lanes. The AMD 3700X inside suggests future upgrades are possible. Regarding performance issues, your GPU usage is extremely high during games, even without browsers open, and your internet speed seems solid with fiber optics. For the PCIe lane question, you should check your motherboard's documentation for the exact number of PCIe 3.0 lanes available.

Your 2080 model is only version 3, not version 4. No matter how advanced the motherboard is, the card will always operate at version 3 speeds. You'll be limited to a maximum of version 3x8.

The AMD 3700X works well as a CPU. Your system performs okay even with YouTube. If you're experiencing lag, it might be due to your internet speed rather than the hardware. Are you connected via Wi-Fi?

Your problems with YouTube stem from your internet link to their servers, probably due to issues on your side, such as limited data speed. Spending money on an Arc GPU won’t fix this.

The issue arises when I launch a brand-new game and try to run YouTube in Chrome on another monitor. It could be due to hardware acceleration not keeping up or the PC struggling with RAM access speed. Generally, when I play games and want to stream YouTube simultaneously, Chrome becomes very slow, particularly with YouTube. The internet connection should be fine since you have 500/500 fiber optics.

Have you experimented with FIREFOX or OPERA GAMING? I'm open to trying them and comparing outcomes, please share your experience. It shouldn't be slow on your current specs—there might be an issue. Consider removing Chrome temporarily and testing another browser. If the problem persists, it could point to a network connection issue rather than a browser lag. A clean reinstall of Chrome would be a good starting point.

I was checking GPU usage and it reached 99% during a game, which likely caused the browser to slow down. I also wanted to know if my motherboard could support two PCI-e 3.0 cards in 16x mode, since the guide only mentions dual PCI-e 4.0 setups (which would be 8x total). Additionally, I’m curious about how my CPU might influence this performance.

I considered the situation when the motherboard has PCI-e 4.0 16x support. Could it handle both cards at PCI-e 3.0 with 16x? I wasn't sure if such a conversion would be feasible, which is the central question here. Thanks for your input!

The available bandwidth remains unchanged, yet it behaves differently than expected. A Gen 4 x8 cannot be converted into a Gen 3 x16. During the split process, you're physically redirecting half of the channels to the second slot.
