Hi, I bypassed the Bell Hub 3000 at my home because the modem kept failing every few months and the speed was poor. I switched to an SFP Module with a gigabit Ethernet adapter and connected it directly to my computer. I set up a PPPoE connection using a Wan miniport with VLAN ID 35 and Intel networking software. The connection works well and is fast. However, it often disconnects every hour. I tried removing the energy-saving settings but had no success. It seems the crashes happen when I delete the configuration, and I need to redo everything. Anyone else had similar issues? How can I fix this? Thanks.

Hey there! I'm considering moving to Bell for the 1.5 gbps down/950 mbps up connection. If you could do it again, would you have chosen a modem/router/switch combo that supports an SFP Module, such as the Ubiquity Dream Machine Pro? Please let me know!

You require immediate assistance with a firewall solution. pfSense is an excellent option. This device can be set up as a router with DHCP and a keep-alive feature to maintain your internet link. If possible, also look into the Fritzbox 5490, tailored for fiber connections. Link: https://en.avm.de/products/fritzbox/fritzbox-5490/

Hi, @Tscanivel I use sfp to ethernet adapter. Tp-link is selling it for like 40$ cad or 30 usd on amazon. Its plug and play and you just need an pppoe connection through your router or computer. Latency is amazing if you go straight to the computer. Like @Dutch_Master said firewall is not an option if you do this. And yes, I have a firewall I know its not an option for connection like this. I fixed the problem that I stated by changing the vlan software from the Intel one to the Hyper-V software and now its working like a charm ! Thanks for your reply ! If you guys have question about my setup I'll be happy to talk about it.
