Control your device with voice commands using Windows features.
does anyone recall voice commands on windows vista? it felt like you would say start, then it would launch the start menu, after that you could type in numbers or number the page and it would display a number for each item on the start menu, allowing you to click through. essentially, it worked like a voice-controlled mouse and keyboard. anyone know if windows 11 still supports this feature? i used it frequently back then until my laptop stopped working—a dell latitude or attitude d830—and when i got a new one, I couldn't set it up again. does this voice control concept apply to anyone else?
Win 11 offers "voice access" and "speech recognition" features that perform comparable tasks. Results might differ.
It resembles those on Windows Vista? Yes, it feels similar. People often say Vista was poor, but once Windows 7 arrived, I decided to stick with Vista since it better matched my needs.
Vista had its launch delayed, pushed to devices not meeting recommended standards. By the time it was officially available, it was already known for poor performance. Microsoft addressed these issues with Windows 7, which offered full support and resolved the problems Vista faced. Vista helped make Windows 7 functional.
I still prefer Vista, I discovered speech recognition in Windows 10—it matches Vista exactly. Even the dialogs that recognize your voice are the same as in Vista. It feels like Microsoft simply transferred voice recognition from Vista to Windows 10. Try it once; it’s useful, especially when you’re sitting on the sofa reading and don’t want to move your hand to scroll down. You can just say “scrol down” and it will scroll for you, along with many other voice commands. I really missed this outdated system that hasn’t changed in over 15 years.
