Control crashes should trigger any minor GPU issues.
So as above, my GPU remains stable across more than 30 games and benchmarks, maintaining 2040MHz on the core and +1000 on memory. However, in control mode it experiences constant crashes. Removing the OC resolved the issue, but adding 10MHz to the core triggers crashes again. Does this game seem to dislike the GPU OC? Anyone else encountering similar problems?
The game itself isn't concerned..
It functions well on various systems with overclocking enabled.
(Feedback, user videos and personal observations)
It's not really a 'problem' but rather an internal quirk depending on the PC's hardware or software aspects..but not necessarily related to the game code.
On my 2080 ti FTW3 Ultra I had to lower the clock speed to +100 to prevent crashes. I increased the VRAM overclock to +800 to make up for some lost frames. This adjustment is quite important for me because I was testing with RTX. With my standard overclock, I could maintain 60fps at 3840 X 1600. Without it, I’m down in the 50s.
I’ve installed a lot of hardware over the past few years and seen varying outcomes from different overclockers. My i7 2600k often crashed during games when overclocked. Eventually, I realized I could either overclock the CPU or GPU, but not both. My i7 6700k would crash in some games with XMP enabled, but it handled any GPU overclock fine. The i7 8700k required a stock setting or around 4.7ghz for stability with a GPU overclock. My i7 8086k only had issues with Control, which I think is fortunate.
